Now, about National Scrapbooking Day...which was really a weekend long event for me. Well, actually it was Thursday through Sunday! I spent all day Thursday with my shopping buddies Victoria and Sarah...these gals are my "pie loving" buddies from CKU Chicago. Scrapsy Sarah came all the way from Oxfordshire England (where the dictionaries come from) to see me....and attend the Reflections Scrapbooking event in Newport Beach. It was her first time to Southern California, so it was quite fun. Victoria and I took her around to EIGHT scrapbooking and craft stores on a whirlwind shopping journey, stopping for lunch and PIE mid afternoon! We dashed back to the Newport Beach Hyatt for event registration, and then turned in early to get ready for classes Friday morning!

Sarah and I - along with honorary pie lover Lori - were in all our classes together. There were two classes on Friday (plus the make 'n take and vendor fair - the Isle Carnival) on Friday night; then three classes on Saturday, and two more on Sunday! Each class was three hours long, and let me tell you - the hours flew by. We made some wonderful projects with loads of techniques. I feel like I have learned alot of fun new tricks and ideas. Making the party hat in Mara May Baca's class was totally new. Who knew that a party hat could be such fun for scrapbookers??!?!?!

Well, we are such a silly bunch....why wouldn't we have fun? It was more than fun to get to scrap with Sarah again, as well as finally get to spend time with lead Fiskateer Cheryl, and Elena from Scrapbook Royalty. Saturday night, we trekked to Newport Dunes to give Sarah the experience of roasting marshmallows....being British, she didn't understand the point of this all-American past time, but now she can say she's done it! All in all, it was a fabulous weekend, and I am a bit scrappy-hungover still.

I am still going through all my goodies. I have eaten the yummy chocolate chip cookies that Stephanie Ackerman made (they are her signature cookie and I have to have them whenever I see her). She wrapped them in a brown paper bag with a cute ribbon. I am posting about her Bind-it-All/Teresa Collins project on the BIA blog, so check that out. The charm swap is by far my favorite swap at these events. I love my bracelet! Although we had a small group, the charms are stellar! And Reflections gave everyone a handmade necklace as a memento. Here is a small photo of a few of the cute cute cute Carnival make 'n takes.

National Scrapbook Day for me was FABULOUS! Not only was there incredible creativity, but the friendships and fun were unmatched! Until next year (or until the next crop.....) keep on scrappin' girls!
