Desert Scrappers FUN!

It was a great, scrappy, croppy weekend! I started out on Friday thinking I was making the trip to Desert Scrappers - Palm Desert by myself. But by mid-afternoon on Friday, DH called and said he and the girls wanted to come too. So he loaded up the van and we all left together about 5:15PM. Traffic was horrible as usual, getting through the OC and IE, but we made it to the Desert Scrappers event by about 8:30P. I was able to conduct the FREE Zutter Cover-Alls make ‘n take for the croppers, and of course, the response to these little cuties is always so enthusiastic! I stayed up late doing some digi work on my laptop in the crop room, and got to be social with the 60 or so croppers there. Mucho fun.
The next day, DH and the girls went shopping, pooling and hanging….while I hit the crop room early to do my “thang!” I went back to my digi work, but took a break at noon to take a class from Judy at Scrapyard 329. Judy’s got all kind of fun little metal doo-dads, and we pounded (embossed) and played with alcohol inks, crackle paint and such to make an adorable mini album that fits into a palm sized tin. So freakin’ cute! After lunch I taught my two Prima Endorsed Classes – both were 6X6 Zutter-bound mini books. I am pleased to say that both classes sold out. Love that! Gotta love the Bind-it-All and Prima! The ladies really loved the Thankful kit – so that is kudos to head Prima Donna, Donna Salazar, who designed the Prima Down Home Embellishment kit that my book was based upon. The corrugated cardboard, lace, denim and burlap gives a whole new shabby, grungy look to the book. So it was a new style for a lot of the ladies (like it was a new look for me!!).

Taught the classes to a fun bunch of ladies….loved their enthusiasm and creativity. I even taught my “Key” book to my older sister who is in town! Such fun to get my big sis all glue-y.

We were going to head home Saturday night, but the tragic fires in Yorba Linda/Corona shut down the freeways and transition roads that would take us to South Orange County. So to avoid all that we just had to stay one more night in Palm Desert! DH was pleased to grab another crop-widower husband and head over to one of the many casinos nearby, while the girls and I watched movies and hung out in the crop room until the wee hours! We made it home early on Sunday – the fires had abated near the roads we travel – and we are happy and tired from a full, fun weekend!
