Me & My Freckle Friends – Autism Speak Crop

One of my goals this year is to have more fun cropping time and enjoy scrappin' (as opposed to working at events)….and this weekend was the best example so far. I got to enjoy 12 hours of cropping at the Me & My Freckle Friends Autism Speaks Charity Crop on Saturday – at one of my favorite places, Me & My BIG Ideas in Lake Forest. The best part? Well, besides most of the revenue going to Autism Speaks, having cute make ‘n takes, and working low-stress on a variety of projects….the absolute BEST part of the day was seeing so many friends! As a way of background, CKU Anaheim was about a year ago – and at that time I met a whole slew of ladies who I can now call friends. I also met a bunch of ladies through my work for Zutter, and as part of the design team for the Red Bee. So, in no particular order – I got to scrap and hang with this great group of ladies: Linda V, Erin B, Janine (and her hubby Sean), Laura Miller, Jennifer L and her mom Angie, Stephanie D and her (and my new) friend Dana, Lori S, Sandy A, Tran, Victoria, TJ (I see her everywhere!), Christine, Illyce and Jen, the Freckle Friends gals Debbie and Susan, Stephanie Ackerman of Home & Heart (and her delish cookies once again!), and Suezi from MAMBI – always generous. I hope I didn’t forget anybody. No doubt, one of the best parts of the day for me was seeing people I know walk into the crop room. It made me happy and made the day so much more enjoyable!

The make ‘n takes were super cute. Stephanie Ackerman had a cute summer booklet that she sewed together that we got to embellish as we wish. Suzy Plantamura (current CK HOFer) created a cute pink and brown layout (my first ever layout with pipe cleaner!), and Suezi from MAMBI provided a banner in honor of the 4th of July. Annie from Canon was also on hand to take pictures and demo the Canon Selphy. She provided pictures for a really cute layout to commemorate the day using Teresa Collins paper and MAMBI bling. I journaled that page last night as part of my scrappy memories album. It’s a great, easy layout to remember the day.

As far as personal projects, I did a couple of family layouts, but I mostly tried to crank out layouts from CKU Chicago. I made a few of my pie-eater friends. Be happy - eat more pie! I made good progress, so I am happy!! Happy to see friends, happy to help a great cause, and happy to scrap. Can’t ask for too much more than that.

Have a great week.

Nan - wasn't that just SO fun !! I am so glad we got to see you and to see you havin fun instead of makin the fun. Well, you still did kinda make some of the fun, but in a totally different way (makin us laugh instead of coordinating the laughs - KWIM ?)
Are you SURE you don't want to go to CKU-Provo ??? Think about how much FUN you'd have with us........ admit it -- you know you would. :-)
